📌How to get to Terme Čatež
Terme Čatež is situated in Čatež ob Savi, 4 kilometres from the town of Brežice, in the Slovenian region of Posavje, close to the former Croatian border.
🚗 The most comfortable way to get there is by car. It is only 36 km away from Zagreb, and from the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, it is approximately 95 km away. Follow the A2 motorway southeast toward Zagreb, and then exit at Brežice, or use local roads (you don’t need a Slovenian vignette).
From Belgrade, it is 430 km away, and it takes about 4-5 hours to drive, plus the time at the border.
🚅 By air: the nearest airport is Zagreb, which is approximately 40 km away, and Ljubljana Airport is 100 km northwest.
📍A few facts about the history of Terme Čatež
Interestingly, Terme Čatež is situated on eleven thermal springs that supply pools at 36 degrees Celsius.
Officially, it celebrated 100 years of its founding and thermal tourism in Slovenia on 21st June, 2025.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the noble Attems family owned the Čatež field with the thermal springs, which had been discovered earlier. In 1925, they built the first hotel, “Zdraviliški dom” (Health Resort Home) in a Swiss architectural style, for wealthy guests. The hotel had 34 rooms and 18 “pools” – the large bathtubs, cabins, restaurant and open terrace. To attract more visitors, they built another hotel, known as the “Ljudski dom” (People’s home), with 14 rooms and 63 beds.

Today, it is the largest health resort in the region and central Europe. It is known for its Summer and Winter Thermal Riviera and modern Wellness centre.

Thermal Riviera, in summer and in winter
The thermal water, which ranges from 32°C to 36°C, allows bathing all year round in the complex and hotel pools.
Thermal Riviera is an excellent place for families with children, as well as for couples and wellness enthusiasts. The children really enjoy themselves there, so they don’t have time for games and songs on mobile phones, which, you will admit, is a rarity today! Their noise and the lines on the slide are just indicators of how much they enjoy water adventures!

On the last weekend in May 2026, in the presence of numerous visitors, the Summer Thermal Riviera was officially opened.
